Minyoung Kim investigates how digital technologies mediate and transform our sensory experiences. Through simulative installations that blend various media—video, XR, performance, and contemporary dance—she explores the relationships between chance and reproduction, human and non-human, experience and memory, and existence and virtuality in our technological environment.
As an independent XR developer and researcher, she has collaborated with experts across robotics, AI, and contemporary dance. Her recent works include the "Holy Motors Series," a multimedia performance combining AI and computer vision that explores the expanding possibilities of body image in contemporary media environments; "Unnamed Events," a critical examination of digital image production and circulation through reinterpretations of personal media, exhibitions, press photos, and archives; and "Giant Whisper," an augmented acoustic environment using real-time ship data to explore new relationships between data and perception in marine ecosystems.
She has collaborated with major institutions including Hyundai ZER01NE, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Saatchi Gallery, Cité Internationale des Arts Paris, Art Center Nabi, KAIST, and Korea National Contemporary Dance Company. Through her work across medical institutions, research centers, and cultural organizations, she continues to expand the boundaries between technology, art, and science. Since 2023, she has been teaching XR content development and design at university level.
